Nereid’s dream in Santorini

In the midst of the traditional settlement of Megalochori in Santorini Island, we have completely restored with the utmost care and attention to detail, three beautiful cave dwellings, which surround a picturesque courtyard. The name of this unique accommodation complex is Niso, one of the 50 Nereids, daughters of Nireas and Dorida, sea nymphs in the Greek mythology, often accompanying Poseidon, the god of the sea, and particularly associated with the Aegean Sea, worshipping the Greek islands.

The caves were residences of the 18th century and their meticulous restoration was completed in 2022, adopting a bioclimatic design, in accordance with the modern trends of minimal aesthetics, while preserving and emphasizing the traditional elements of the local architecture of Santorini and the Cyclades islands.

The Courtyard

The courtyard is located at the center of the three cave dwellings and has been designed using local materials and based on traditional architecture. It has gentle vegetation, and it is sheltered from the north wind that often blows in the Cyclades. It also features subtle shades for the strong daytime sun and hidden soft lighting for guests to relax with a glass of wine after the sun has gone down.
